Building AUD Supportive Communities: South Okanagan
We are thrilled to be working with Desert Sun Counselling and Resource Centre to deliver a year-long, deep-dive community engagement program in Oliver and Osoyoos. Through this Building AUD Supportive Communities program we aim to:
Spread awareness that AUD is a treatable health condition.
Help people feel more comfortable and supported to talk about AUD and seek care.
Create a healthier local drinking culture.
Thank you to everyone who joined us on May 8th 2024 for our first big event! At our AUD workshop, representatives from across our communities came together to hear from local care providers and health experts all about alcohol use disorder and new treatment options available in the South Okanagan. In the afternoon, we hosted a community conversation, and generated ideas for events and activities that we can host throughout the year in Oliver and Osoyoos.
Contact Desert Sun to help plan upcoming events, share ideas or to volunteer!
Many thanks to our partners the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan Similkameen and Desert Sun Counselling and Resource Centre for helping to roll out the program.
